As we all know achieving a young and healthy, beautiful skin is almost impossible to achieve at home. If you are not given that glowing skin by the skin goddess then who should you look for to give you that goddess looking skin? Many people turn to Skincare professionals when they need some extra help. The most common treatment they turn to is a Basic "European" facial (it sounds fancy right?!). But what is a basic European facial, anyway? Though the name is unassuming, the treatment can truly benefit skin, especially because every facial is tailored to the individual's skin type. European facial is just a regular facial in Europe. It starts with a few things after your skin care specialist reviews, documents and analyzes your skin.
What happens during a facial? Each facial you will receive a warm introduction from us as we walk you through the receiving area to the service area. It begins with a Client consultation that helps us Estheticians determine the right products and the skin treatment for your skin type and concerns. Once that's been determined, the relaxing part begins! Most basic facials include some version of the following five steps. 1. Cleansing / Steaming: Estheticians usually steam the face first and double cleanses it by applying a cleanser into the face in circular massage motion , neck, and decollete to remove any traces of oil, makeup, dirt and debris. We then remove the cleanser by rinsing it off with warm water, warm towel, paired with a facial sponge, cloth, or cotton pad. We dry our client's face and perform a skin analysis to evaluate skin. This step helps us determine what type of custom mask, serum or finishing products to apply later. 2. Exfoliation: Depending on the spa you're visiting, your Skincare Specialist or Esthetician may help buff away dead skin cells with an exfoliating cream or scrub or in some cases clients are a candidate for an intense treatment and exfoliation and with that we perform a strong chemical peel, microdermabrasion or hyrofacial etc. 3. Extractions: Extraction is a simple process to clear pores that have become clogged with excess oil or dead skin cells. Each individual pore will be cleansed and extracted either with a special tool or by hand. This method is done most especially when the congested pore has forms of blackheads and acne. 4. Massage: A facial must include a massage of the face, neck and decolletege and often times the upper body ( neck and shoulders and arms). Always ask your skin care specialis if they can give you a facial or neck and shoulder massage for a more relaxing treatment. A massage will always help lymphatic drainage and relax your mind and body. 5. Masks and Finishing products: Every facial must be customized to every clients' needs. We apply a custom mask paired with an LED MASK if needed. It is important for us Estheticians to customize each treatment due to our client's skin type and concerns. Common skin types would be Combo skin, Normal- Dry skin and Normal to Oily skin. To treat each type we can apply a clay-based one to treat oiliness or a hydrating one to combat dryness. We finish off with a serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen if it's daytime. How long does a facial take? Most basic facials last 45 to 60 minutes. How much does a facial cost?Like most spa services, facials prices are based on the specific treatments used. A facial that includes a Chemical peel, Hydrofacial or Microdermabrasion for example, will probably cost more than a basic European facial. Prices will vary from $75 - $150 per treatment. You can always keep an eye on SPECIALS and DISCOUNTS that your favorite Spa may have every month. What are the benefits of a facial? Basic facials not only deeply cleanses the skin, it also help fight certain skin problems, such as mild acne or dryness. The treatments leave faces glowing, young and rejuvenated and make you feel all relaxed.
